AISTEDA's involvement
in the economic and social life of the region
The participation of the university to the economic and social life of the region is the third mission of any university, after education and research.
The main aim is to increase the role played by AISTEDA in the economic and social life, by continually adapting to the region's needs and by an active involvement in all the important activities. By its impact on the training of the regions human resource, emphasizing on the use of IT, AISTEDA tries to contribute to the revival of the economic activities now in great difficulties.
The University co-operates with the local authorities, with the companies, with the Regional Development Agency, with the Local PAEM Consortium, and with other institutions for developing and implementing various projects. Starting with May 1997, AISTEDA organises each quarter a Seminar for "Sustainable Development", which gathers representatives of local public authorities, personalities from within the region or the whole country, and also academics, in order to discuss problems regarding the perspectives for the region's economic and social development, and to propose appropriate solutions for various problems.
The papers presented during the seminars, and also the conclusions of the discussions are presented in the Seminar's Bulletin, issued quarterly, and is distributed to all interested institutions and persons.
